Today is Jeff’s birthday. We wake up to a beautiful clear sky and of course I wake Jeff with a Happy Birthday kiss and a big smile and head outside to make him coffee! Penny looks at me like she wants to just go back to sleep. Her “perch” is on the front seat, so she has her own space in the truck, while w sleep in the back. The first night, she thought we’d gone mad…but adjusted quickly to the idea.
After coffee, we spend a couple hours admiring the beauty around us. The peace of light animal sounds and wonderful quietness. There was a bit of a breeze. Us humans look so tiny in this huge space near the canyon. If you look closely at the photo above, you will find Jeff in there somewhere, just to give you an idea of how huge it is!
We pack up our stuff to head to the next “stop”. Jeff does the roof packing and I take Penny for a quick morning walk. We were warned that there are rattle snakes in this area, but Jeff and I both think it’s too early in the morning for them to come out and poison us…so we’re pretty relaxed.
